Exploring Roseburg Oregon: Umpqua National Forest and Watson Falls
Spring
is almost here and it’s a wonderful time to visit the stunning Umpqua
National Forest & spectacular Watson Falls!
Drive just an hour east
of Roseburg, winding through the scenic countryside on your way to Watson
Falls. Enter Umpqua National Park, home of the majestic Cascade Mountains and
the perfect location for camping, fishing, hunting, and getting away from it all.
It sits on just under 1 million acres of land in southwest Oregon and includes
old-growth forest that Oregon is famous for.
The number one
attraction at the Umpqua National Forest is Watson Falls. The highest waterfall
in southwest Oregon with its 293-foot drop, its trailhead provides ample
parking and other amenities, including picnic tables and
restrooms. A short, half-mile hike takes you to ground zero of
Watson Falls, with several informative signs in the parking area that explain
the geology of the falls.
Maps, experiences, campgrounds, and other
details regarding the amazing Umpqua National Forest can be found via the USDA Forest Service website.
