Strung along the Umpqua River Wild and Scenic Corridor, a National Scenic Byway from Highway 138 to Highway 97, are the Thundering Waters of the Umpqua. Known as the “Highway of Waterfalls,” more than a dozen of these natural water features cascade through the wooded beauty that makes up the Umpqua National Forest. The “Thundering Waters” brochure provides a detailed look at several of the most spectacular and beautiful waterfalls a copy can be picked up at the Roseburg Area Chamber of Commerce & Visitor Center. The falls and parking areas, with disabled access, are well marked on Hwy 138 beginning about 20 miles east of Roseburg.
